Southwest Florida is a popular destination for true Florida living. We visited Port Charlotte to take a closer look at this laid-back lifestyle.

Port Charlotte

There is a sense of peace and calm in Port Charlotte, Florida. Maybe it's the warmth of an early September day. Or perhaps it is a calm brought by a landscape of water and sky. This is a residential community. You won't find skyscrapers, neon lights, or six-lane freeways here. Instead, this lifestyle requires a good pair of sunglasses, comfortable, breathable clothing and a plan to slow down a bit.

Port Charlotte Beach Park

One of the popular pursuits in Port Charlotte is spending time in or on the water.  Port Charlotte has been dubbed both the "Sailing Capital of the World"  and "Tarpon Capital of the World".  Either way, blue waters are involved. We visited Port Charlotte Beach Park, a 16-acre bayfront County park. We found residents enjoying the pool and boat launch, finding respite from temperatures in the high 80's.

Everything You Need

You'll find your favorite shops in Port Charlotte to meet your daily needs. The parking lots are clean and well kept. You'll find big box stores, a shopping mall and a variety of strip centers offering home goods, haircuts and hospitality.

The model center will feature the Highland, a floorplan selected from our Holiday Builders' Cornerstone Series of homes. Additionally, we are building a Majestic floorplan - a popular HB Value Series home. Note: The signage in the photo reflects pricing for the HB Value series of homes. Holiday Builders homes in Port Charlotte start in the mid to high $200's.

We are building ten different Cornerstone Series floorplans in Port Charlotte ranging from 1,296 sf to 2,709 sf. Each home is a single-story plan offering up to four bedrooms and three baths. Port Charlotte is popular among retirees and new families and our floorplans reflect the varying needs of each lifestyle. Furthermore, the ability to make design selections such as flooring, countertops, and cabinets allow personalizing a new home to perfectly suit a homeowner's style and taste.

Across the Bay

Right across the bay from Port Charlotte is Punta Gorda. We visited the lovely municipal marina known as Laishley Park nestled on the shoreline of Charlotte Harbor and the Peace River. Punta Gorda is a great destination for Port Charlotte residents. It's close by and offers nightlife, great dining and additional water recreation.

The Map Says It All

Here's a snapshot of blue vs green, or water vs land, on this map of Port Charlotte. You can see Punta Gorda across the Bay and North Port to the northwest. We'll cover North Port in next week's blog. For more information on new homes in Port Charlotte, visit
